When BANG, someone/something hit our living room windows. M jumped up, and watched someone run away. M realized he can't run (due to his immobilizer from his ACL surgery) so he just watched out the window. Now you have to understand, to get to our living room window, you have to come up on our deck, and then onto a brick area that is between our sunroom and our garage. VERY close. I am LIVID. We call the cops and I want a gun. I feel differently now with my baby girl in my arms. I will kill whoever came near my house. We're pretty sure it's just kids being kids, but what kids? We don't know anyone. I see a group of kids dressed in black walk in front of our house. Oh great, a goth gang or something. The cops peruse the neighborhood and find no one. M's dad comes over (he's an important person) and finds nothing. So the in-laws chill at our house for a while, but I'm too wired to sleep. H is out like a light. I guess I could put her down but now I feel like people have been looking in our windows.
Around 11:30, BANG. Again??? I for real want a gun now. M's dad happens to be outside and catches him. Flashes his badge. Brings the perp in to our house. Cute little kid in a suit about wetting his pants. I about laugh. Turns out he's spending the night after a jr high Valentine's dance with a friend who lives in our neighborhood. He goes to a nearby church and we have mutual friends. We don't act like we're fine though. We need to teach him a lesson. I told him that I almost shot him. M tells him that if you do this to people, you do it to people you know! I guess they were trying to ding dong ditch us. Unfortunately our doorbell doesn't work. They couldn't figure out why were weren't reacting or answering our door. So they had to resort to banging on the windows. Hilarious.
We have the kid call his mom to come pick him up. She arrives in tears. The kid was so polite and sorry. All in all it was pretty adorable. I'm sure he's grounded. We also got the name of the kid in our neighborhood and called him. His dad was pretty sorry/embarrassed too.
So we're all safe and sound. But we now have a gun. Don't mess with us.
