At the beginning of the Indy Mini Marathon. It took me 12 minutes from the gun to get to the start line. Don't try to find me, I'm not in this picture.
This was Hannah's view the whole time. Matt and Hannah enjoyed some father/daughter time.
Having a child seriously cuts into my running time. I now am stuck on the treadmill in the basement walking, not even running, for 30-40 minutes a day. So to train for this, I went on three 10 mile runs in the past two months.
I've decided half marathons are 70% mental, 20% training and 10% how I feel on race day. And for some reason I felt great today. Right now, at almost 10pm, I still feel pretty good. My muscles aren't sore, but my right knee is painful. At my lateral joint line. This tells me something about my shoes. I just bought them last week and did one run in them before today. I know, bad decision. Also, after I run a race, any more then about 10 miles, my GI system is messed up for the rest of the day. I won't go into details, but I get some major intestinal pain for the next 12 hours. I've definitely googled this and found that it's somewhat normal. I haven't found anything to help it though. If someone has any suggestions, please let me know.
I've thought about doing a marathon. But I feel like it would take something that I enjoy doing and turn it into work.
Tomorrow I think we are headed to the Fort Wayne Tincaps game. I've heard some call them the Potheads, but I'll be respectful.....

You had an awesome race Abby! I ran it in 2, and my training schedule was awful this year too... so I'm very impressed that your training wasn't the greatest but that you ran so well. It was fun seeing Matt at the start line -- My GI system is always a mess for the whole day too. NO remedy suggestions... Try training when you have two kids - it doesn't get any easier!! :) A very supportive husband is the best thing during training -- I'm so thankful for that. AND, a wonderful jogging stroller works wonders. If you don't have one, you really should get one. We love both of ours.
matt looks so proud (btw, i have been out of town and i could read your blog and not post....that is why u are getting lots of comments at once!)
