Updates

Hannah has become such an independent little lady. Last night for the first time she decided she wanted to feed herself. She would get so mad she would scream if I tried. So I just put some rice chex in front of her and she went to town. The dogs learned quickly to camp under her high chair because more food ended up on the floor then in her mouth. I had made sweet potatoes for us and when I put some in her mouth, she got so mad so quickly I briefly thought maybe it was too hot and it burned her mouth (it wasn't, I checked). She screamed. Then took a nice deep breath in to scream again and instead inhaled the food. I had just been recertified in CPR, AED and choking for work so I was ready, but my mom got there before me and turned her upside down while banging on her back. I scraped the sweet potato out of her mouth. Geez, Hannah. Just let me feed you!
Today, all day, Hannah would scream if I couldn't figure out what she wanted and when she wanted it. And when she wants it (whatever that might be) is NOW! I was a bit frazzled by this new turn of events, normally she's so peaceful and laid back. Hopefully our sweet little girl is back tomorrow, but if not, we'll work on this fun new part of life!
My mom came into town for two days to help me scrape the wallpaper off my kitchen walls. This is a project I started last November. The walls are so damaged by the layers of paper on it that I'm going to have to get them skim coated. Projects are always slower and cost more then you think they should! But I am so grateful for the help. It was such a huge mess, and it will only get messier as the walls get redone and sanded. Then I'll have a layer of dust throughout my house! I couldn't have done it by myself.
Anyway, I'm trying out a fun new color, you'll have to let me know what you think.
I got my blog book from blurb.com. I am so pleased with out it turned out. I'll show anyone who would like to see it!
We are also planning a party (which is my motivation behind getting my kitchen walls done) for Hannah. We think birthdays are fun and all, and we'll probably have small, family-only affairs. But we are going to have a big party for her adoption finalization. It'll be Sept 11 and I think there might be around 50 people here if everyone brings their children. We are so excited to celebrate Hannah!
Lastly, I am helping coach cross country at a local high school. That will take up some of the "free time" I have, so this blog may get abandoned for a while. But I really enjoy being involved with the high school kids. They keep me young, right?
So enough talking, here are some of the very few pictures I've managed to take lately....

Hannah and the neighbor boy. He was not happy in this picture, although he usually is. They were playing very well together!
Hannah still loves this thing, it buys me at least 10 minutes to do something productive.

This is where Hannah ended up after she fed herself. She had a ridiculous amount of food on herself. And by the way, check out how long her hair is!

This is just the beginning of the huge mess we made in the kitchen with the sticky wallpaper. Ugh, I hate projects like this!
My brand new wall color? A pink kitchen? Ok, it's not my real choice, I did want to try it out so I bought a little sample. I ended up needing the walls primed so I went ahead and used this color. Fun, eh? I'll post the real color when I have it done.

Ama feeding Hannah.

This is Hannah's screaming face. She didn't want to sit in the chair. Of course not.
