Where to begin...

About a week ago, my dog Reggie pooped in his cage (that he shares with his brother Rocky) while I was at work. I came home to a very smelly house. So I had to drag everything outside and wash it off. The pups were covered, so I shaved them both. Without using a guard so they look kind of like ferrets, but I didn't really care at the time. The next day, Reggie pooped in his cage again. Frustrating, yes?
Fast foward a few days and Saturday night Reggie is generally discombobulated all night. I hear him shaking, scratching, panting, jumping on and off the bed. I got up and let them outside a few times, not really knowing what's going on.
By Sunday night we notice that Reggie's face is seeping a clear liquid and some blood from all the scratching (and it's on my white bedspread). Matt goes to Walmart and gets cortisone cream, benedryl, a hot spot cream and some gauze. We drug him up, spread the stuff on his face and wrap his head with the bandage.
Matt took him to the vet yesterday and Reggie has to wear a cone on his head for 7 days. 7 days! Poor guy has no sense of proprioception and is banging into everything. And we have to keep giving him tranquilizers so he can barely even walk in a straight line. I guess because I shaved them so short, Reggie's hair couldn't protect his skin from a scratch or bugbite and then he scratched the heck out of it which turned it into what is called a hot spot.
Rocky apparently wanted part of the attention. We had been laying in bed for about 30 minutes last night and Matt turns to me and says, "Is this wet?" and makes me sniff our duvet and mattress. Rocky peed on the bed. So close to midnight we strip the bed of everything and move ourselves into our guest room (with two twin beds) and sleep there all night. Both dogs needed to sleep on my bed, and Reggie thought he needed to put his cone head on my pillow. Needless to say I did not sleep well.
Sigh.
On a lighter note, Hannah's naps are back on track. She is finally taking two long ones, in addition to sleeping 12+ hours at night.
Hannah is also FINALLY starting to eat food well. It only took her 2.5 months! I also gave her the pacifier back. For a while if I tried to give it to her she would spit it out, so I knew she didn't need it. But once this teething stuff started, she took it right away. So we have an addict again. Yay.
Hannah also learned this morning to drink out of a sippy cup. She does so well with a regular cup, and with a straw, but I still felt like it's important for her to learn a sippy cup too. I gave it to her today and she kept biting it, but then it was so neat to see the lightbulb come on. She loves it.

Hannah is learning how to give hugs.

We went to the Colts' preseason game with our neighbors on Friday night. No kids went, but we thought Hannah should wear her Colts shirt. And show off her teeth.

Sunday we all took naps. Hannah was watching golf with her dad. I fall asleep watching golf too!

Matt thought Hannah looked cute with a towel on her head.

Poor little Reggie. Only 6 more days buddy!

We also had some visitors this weekend. My cousin and his wife, my brother, his wife and their daughter Liberty. It was a full house, but we had fun doing some last minute hosting. I apologize for forgetting to turn the air on. Our house was only 78 degrees with 6 adults and 2 babies. Sunday, only after I got super grumpy, did I look at our thermostat and realize that I could probably turn it down. So now our house is a chill 74.

Other then those exciting parts of life, nothing else new is going on. I can't believe how much I love Hannah learning new things. Because it took us so long to get a baby, I thought I would be more sad to see her grow up, but it is so much fun! I'm really trying to soak it all in because who knows how many babies I'm going to get to enjoy. Hopefully Hannah is not our only one, but if it is, I'm doing my best to love every minute, even the non-napping, teething, grumpy minutes:)
