This will probably be a boring post, but I thought it was relevant to possibly a lot of people who read my blog.
I have a co-worker who loves vitamins (*cough* Ben *cough*). And has been giving me interesting literature on Vitamin D deficiency. I considered the stats for a day or so and went out and bought Matt and myself some Vit D supplements. Then I googled "vit D deficiency and infertility" and here is what I found.....
93 PERCENT OF WOMEN WITH INFERTILITY ARE DEFICIENT IN VIT D.
Sorry, I didn't mean to yell. Here is the link to the article..

And that is just one link. Google it yourself.
A question I have been asking myself is, are there really more infertile young couples or is it just because I'm infertile and people are coming out of the woodwork? Are we becoming more of an infertile nation because of a vitamin deficiency? I have no clue.
Just something to think about. I, for one, will be supplementing. I don't care about the infertility. I care more about the osteoporosis, stroke, MS and diabetes. A biological child would be a bonus.
PS. As the article states, a fertility clinic can't charge $2500 for a vitamin, but they can for manufactured hormones. Hmmmm.......

hmm. this is really interesting. I would be curious myself to know if this is one of the culprits of many infertile couples. Of course, no one is going to tell you because they do like to charge the money for the hormones rather than ten bucks for vitamins!!
Vitamin D is also great for building the immune system. We avoid the flu shot and just boost our Vitamin D dosage. The Carlson brand makes a great Vitamin D oil that can be absorbed right on the tongue for kiddos (or on their paci or in a drink). They also make an oil for adults that we take. I always pump it into Jonathan along with Echinacea and few other things since he is in the schools all the time! My pediatrician strongly advises giving the kids Vit D. Interesting about the infertility... I wonder what the reasoning is behind that?
