I have it figured out - until it changes, that is

Monday nights are a bit stressful for me. I come home from work, make a quick dinner because Hannah is usually being a touch dramatic and needs to eat like 5 minutes ago. Then Matt leaves for BSF around 6:30. Then Olivia has her normal evening meltdown around 7ish which is (when Matt is home) when I usually feed her while Matt reads Hannah books and put her down.
When Matt is not home, it's all a hot mess and we all end up in tears somehow.
Olivia has her meltdown, so I try and feed her, while Hannah tries to sit on my lap at the same time, gets upset, tries to put books in my lap, cries more, gets herself all in a tizzy and ends up sobbing on the floor because the baby is taking up too much space on my lap and I shouldn't be paying attention to Olivia anyway.
So tonight, I tried to use some of the common sense God gave me. It worked but I'm not counting on it to work in the future.
I got Olivia her bottle, went into Hannah's room, set Hannah's chair right next to my rocking chair, gave her books and a blanket and told her to read to me while I fed the baby. I know, it's not even that smart.
The joys of figuring out how to parents to little ones together and minimize the frustrations. I really and truly love it (when it works, ha).
Anyone else have creative parenting stories??

It's amazing how far common sense will take you in parenting. Also amazing? How crying children and exhaustion can keep you from remembering to use it. Great idea, hope it keeps working...

u have a great little plan! something i do that is unique to us...I get the kids in the bath tub straight from school. makenna takes care of maddox and will even bathe him if i ask (or don't ask) and I make salads, unpack bags, etc on the other side of the house. super safe :) good thing makenna is really good and the water is very shallow!

I have no great ideas for you, but get it all figured out so you can help me if God blesses us with another child some day.
