So here are some pictures for all those wonderful far away relatives to see some of our house.
First house project, I wanted to repaint our living room ceiling.
The first paint job wasn't the best, the white didn't cover it very well, and I think I bought a crappy paint. I didn't want white this time because I wanted to emphasize the crown moulding.
I wanted to get rid of the blinds that were pretty old and dirty and hang curtains. My mom had the bright idea to use painter's drop cloths from Lowe's. She sewed them into curtains for me and I love the texture. We bought rods for $10 each which was an amazing deal. The rocker was recovered as a gift to us, I painted that desk and the ceiling is painted blue too, Benjamin Moore robin's egg. Not that it's very awesome now, but I like it much better. Next is getting rid of the gross carpet, which is a project that will probably never happen.
Remember about one year ago I painted the kitchen this color? I still really like it. But not in the kitchen, but I was willing to deal with my mistake. Then Sherwin Williams had a 40% off sale so I could repaint the kitchen for $35. Heck of a deal.
So this is my new color, Benjamin Moore palladium blue. Not quite done yet, you can still see some edging that needs finished.
Another view from behind the penninsula. I love bold colors but I think the green was slightly garish.
The chalkboard was a fun project one day. I bought a little door at a salvage store and painted it with chalkboard paint. We try to put encouraging verses on it. Sometimes we just write silly things. This is also the counter that gathers junk. It bugs me, but whatever.
We went to the pumpkin patch today. We bought an apple cider slushy, which was delicious but poor Hannah paid the price later that day. I don't think her little system can handle too many apples. On the bright side, she saw pigs for the first time. She loved them and tried to get in the pen.
In Hannah news, I watched her at the top of the steps almost fall head first down the entire flight with hardwood floors at the bottom. I screamed (I was sitting in a rocking chair feeding Livi) and Hannah didn't fall. I seriously don't know how. Or I do, because we pray that the Lord puts His angels around her to protect her. Is that silly? I still almost have a heart attack just thinking about it.
Also, in other exciting news today, we turned on the tv to see if Hannah would watch cartoons and we heard a loud pop and the tv screen went blank. We are considering not getting a new one. We have one in the basement for movies if we want. We don't have cable and the tv in the basement gets bad reception with the antennas. So should we spend the money for a new tv for upstairs when we only get five channels? I am trying to convince Matt that we should be tv-less. We shall see what happens.
Oh, and Hannah won't watch tv (at least at our house). A good thing, but sometimes a bad thing.
