We get to celebrate Livi Lou's little life on post number 300! I can't wait to upload the pictures I took today. Not because the pics are that great, but because we celebrated our official adoption of little sweet cheeks.
Matt and I both took the afternoon off work (the adoption was at 2:15). The girlies were at the in-laws house napping so Matt and I had lunch together (at McDonald's, where we laughed a lot. Boy are we funny). We went shopping at Target. Then went downtown to the county courthouse with Matt's parents and the little ones.
We had the girls dressed in their matching Puma velor sweatsuits (cause we are classy like that). We did the whole "stand when the judge enters the room, raise your right hand and take an oath" thing. Hannah did her "I'm almost two and have the attention span of a goldfish (which is three seconds by the way, I googled it) so I'm going to run around and whine and point and say 'dat' at everything."
We must have paid more attention this time because we were both more emotional. The judge asked us to confirm that it is in Olivia's best interests to be in our family. We confirmed that and got a little misty eyed. I looked at Liv and she was staring at me and broke into a smile just when I said "yes" to the question. What a sweet little peanut.
We were done in about three minutes and moved into the reception room. As I previously mentioned, it was a big day today, over 40 adoptions, so there were churches volunteering manning the cookie and punch table.
We received two quilts from an organization called bestlinus.com! They are gorgeous and now I am super sentimental about them. The women were so sweet and told me to take a quilt for Hannah too so she wasn't left out.
Of course everyone asked if we were adopting Hannah today too, if they were sisters, where are they from, etc... I always answered, no, we adopted Hannah last year, and Olivia today and now they are officially sisters.
Funny to think about adopting Hannah last year, Olivia this year....I wonder what next year holds....
So say goodbye to Renee Lashay B (her birth last name started with a B too. Yes we know it and no, we shouldn't know it) and say hello to Olivia Renee Hope B.
Ok, so then we walked around the mall, bought cute matching dresses (these girls are going to kill me for all this matching someday), then we went out to eat at a really nice seafood restaurant that was great but a tad stressful because we had two exhausted children who can't appreciate pecan crusted walleye and oysters on the half shell and had missed their nap.
Now they are in bed, where I should be. So good night.
Olivia, welcome to the craziness called our family. We love you more than you will ever know.
