This story ends with a nap

- This morning I got up and ran with a friend. I got ready before the girls got up and was still waiting for them to get up at 8:15.

- We have BSF this morning so while normally I would celebrate them sleeping in, today we had somewhere to go.

- I went in to Hannah's room. She was curled up in a ball. She woke up when I walked to her bed and she said in a scratchy voice, "Forehead hurt mommy." I asked if anything else hurt, "Face and ears hurt mommy." I asked her if she wanted to go to BSF, "Stay home mommy" as she started coughing.

- I gave her some meds and got her ready, along with Liv. I didn't want to miss BSF. As we were sitting down to breakfast Hannah said, "Stay home, mommy. Snuggle on the couch. Watch Sesame Street?" cough cough cough

- Okay, so that's enough hints that my little girl is not feeling well, I probably shouldn't infect the rest of the two year olds and her Nana was headed to Indy so I didn't have a babysitter (totally understand Nana, I hope you buy something fun!!)

- So guess what we did. After I gave her a breathing treatment (nebulizer=best investment of 2011), Hannah, Olivia and I snuggled on the couch and watched Sesame Street. At my house, Hannah has never seen an entire episode (an hour is kind of long I think), but it was really sweet. Both girls loved their mommy sitting with them without distraction. We are at zero meltdowns at this point (a first maybe?)

- Hannah requested meatballs for dinner. She means meatloaf (mine is good people!). I changed dinner plans and we are having meatloaf. I love making my girls happy with simple requests like that.

- I had already made plans to do a couple errands after BSF and the car was already packed with the diaper bag and lunch I went ahead and decided to go. Even though Hannah felt crappy I figured she wouldn't infect anyone and she loves errands.

- Because we are super complicated in this house, we had to mail in our taxes so I stopped by the PO and did that. Meanwhile, still zero meltdowns between the two girls (bordering on miraculous since the PO is full of fun stuff to touch like packaging).

- Sears to return a Lands' End bathing suit. It's 11:50am at this point. We wait in line a while, still at zero meltdowns. I'm beginning to wonder if these are really my children.

- ChickFilA. I also had packed some food I know they would eat. Hannah ate an entire chicken strips meal (a first), she sat nicely at the kids' table, didn't get food all over herself and Olivia learned how to drink out of a straw (a first). Also, Liv signed more please for the first time. And for the record she is cutting two more bottom teeth, another fact that makes zero meltdowns so amazing.

- Hannah asked to ride the carousel. I said yes and Hannah and the girls loved every bit of that. I really really enjoy saying yes because I have to say no a whole whole lot.

- One meltdown at the end of that. "Again mommy, again!"

- Both girls fell asleep in the car and thus... the end of the story.

- It's been a great day. Nap time for mama too.

(PS. On Monday I thought I would lie down for a few minutes and woke up 2 hours later, it was awesome. I hope that happens today.).

(PPS. This happens to me far too much to not address it. You know how malls have double doors at the entrances? Multiple times people have seen me coming in (they are going out) and they deliberately choose the doors I am not using. On the opposite side. So that they don't have to hold the door open for me and my double stroller. Today I made eye contact with the rude lady and said nicely, "Thanks for your help." She was very confused because she knew she was not being helpful. Enough of my PSA (help mothers with stollers!)).

Sounds like a fun day. I wish my boys were talking more like that and want to just lie down and snuggle. That must be a girl thing. I dunno, but my kids can't watch tv for an hour either.

I always have help with double doors everywhere when I have my double stroller. Weird. Maybe its the twin thing??? I don't know.

what a wonderful day despite the sick hannah!
i think i would be gouging my eyes out if i had to watch more then 10 mins of a kid's shoes. i can't stand cartoons, kid shows, etc. it is a major weakness of mine.
it is amazing the surprise people give you when you do help them out with their stroller/door.

It's fun to hear a run down of your day with the kiddos. I feel like it makes mine seem more normal. :) Hope Hannah is feeling better!
