Only child

Yesterday I met my parents in Portland, IN and dropped Hannah off for her to spend a few days with them. So Olivia's dream of being an only child has come true. Actually, she was a little out of sorts for a while but she quickly got used to having our full attention and not being hit, kicked, pushed and pulled on a regular basis.
And let me tell you, having one child is....easy. When I have three kids, I know I'll be all "two kids is so easy, what was I thinking?" It's all a matter of perspective, isn't it? (Does Mrs Duggar say "18 kids is so easy")?
Adding Hannah to our family was very stessful. I don't have to go through all that again, but it took me a good solid six to eight months just to get her bedroom/crib/clothes/supplies in order, and considering we had just moved into a new house, I had other house stuff to do too.
I was just feeling relaxed and had gotten used to parenting one kid, then Olivia came along.
Then I had another bedroom/crib/clothes and supplies to figure out. That took much less time, but time nonetheless.
Now that I have had over a year of parenting two tiny children, I am a completely different parent/person than I was at the beginning of the parenting journey....
One of the biggest ways is my time management skills. Now I know what's important for me to accomplish. I know what I need to do every day to get the important things done. My standards are significantly lower. But somehow my house is cleaner. At the same time, it's much, much messier. It's not as decorated as I would like. I'm not getting the projects done I would like. But it's either decorate my house, or clean my house. In the age of Pinterest, I would love love love to get all crafty and have time to paint and glue and whatnot. But right now, I just have to keep reminding myself that my time needs to be spent with things that are more necessary than that. (Having said that, not painting something makes me twitchy so I do paint stuff every now and again).
That was a long tangent just to say, one kid is easy.
And I look forward to saying "two kids is so easy, what was I thinking?"

Miss Olivia enjoyed an entire bowl of blueberries without having to defend them from her older sister

I love her face.

Ditto to this face. Helping daddy mulch.

Ditto this face, wondering what exactly mulch is.

We picked a bowl of raspberries and Olivia ate the whole bowl. Combine blueberries and raspberries in one afternoon...good thing I'm working tomorrow and won't be changing those diapers (good luck Matt).

The raspberry bushes and my beautiful one year old. Toddler squatting is so stinkin cute.

So is toddler walking.

Sweet girl and hubs.

My first Pinterest inspired project. I took the doors off these cabinets above the fridge and painted them. Wouldn't have thought of it by myself. That's how big of a loser I am with creativity. Now I have to put stuff in them.

So that's about it.

The cabinets look great! Can't wait to see what you put in there. If you need to go shopping, I would be more than happy to help you spend your money...

Ok that is so cool. I would love to have only one child! so neat for her. I still want to know what pinterest is. I feel like it's 7th grade and I'm totally behind on cool stuff. Well, who are we kidding. I'm still a huge nerd. Can't wait to see more pics of those pretty girls.

Cookbooks would be cute. I have a built-in nook where I store all my cookbooks and a fun pitcher. I love the pop of color the cookbook spines add...though you'd probably need a stool to reach them. :)

The only kid that would be easy for me right now is no kid. But that would be sad and boring, huh? Glad you got some one-on-one time with sweet Livi.

I could just eat that baby up. In a good way. It's a Southern thang.
