It's been a while....

A week ago today Matt and I hopped on an 8am flight to Scottsdale, AZ for some much needed together time. We got into Scottsdale at 2pm when I received a text from my mom that my grandpa (her dad) had just had a massive stroke and probably wouldn't make it through the rest of the day.
We walked around in the heat for a while, ate some dinner and went to bed at 8:30pm. We had gotten up super early for the flight and AZ is three hours behind us, so we were tired. At 4:30am I received another text from my mom that grandpa had indeed, succumbed to the stroke and had died at 2:30am.
We got on the phone with American Airlines and we secured a flight back to Indianapolis on Wednesday, four days earlier than what was supposed to be our return flight. We then realized we had two full days for vacation instead of six so we decided to pack it all in.
We did all the eating, sightseeing, hiking, shopping, driving, eating, eating, and horseback riding that we could fit in.
We did a three hour horseback ride at dusk, we shopped at Ikea, we also are super cool and shopped at every Goodwill we could find (we love Goodwill, especially in nice cities), ate at In N Out too many times and ate too much ice cream.
We hiked Camelback twice, once on Wednesday the morning of our departure flight. We got back home at 2am Thursday and packed up again to go to Ohio after lunch. The funeral was on Friday and we left for home Friday after lunch.
Yesterday I had an all day softball tournament (to which my knees and ankles did not enjoy much.....ahhh the aging process...).
Today, because of some serious lack of training I had to run 18 miles and then being so exhausted from everything, I took a nap this afternoon.
Our activities are not yet over, though. There will still be some more silence from me in the coming days. I also now have an all time record of 206 posts in my Google reader that I think I am just going to clear out. I will catch up. Maybe next week when I will need a vacation from all this vacation.
So...some pictures....

This place is magical.

Driving the Apache Trail.

Also magical.

Ditto the magic here too.

My cowboy. He's dreamy.

How pictures look when trying to take them on the back of a horse.

At the top of the mountain at night.

At the top of Camelback at 7am.

Gorgeous, needs edited.
We really like Arizona. We may try our best to move there sometime in our life.

So sorry for your loss, Abby. And I know it's probably shallow to say, but I'm sorry that your vacation with Matt got cut short. That stinks.
