I was in college, in the fitness center, when I saw the news.
My dad was an airline pilot with American Airlines at the time so my first act was to make sure he was ok. Because he flew so much, I never kept track of what city or state he was in or, really, if he was even home or not.
He was fine, grounded in Chicago, I think.
It's weird to me that we are going to have to teach Hannah and Olivia what happened, and they will never truly understand what that day meant to Americans. Like I really have no idea about Pearl Harbor, no matter how many books I read or movies I see.
(Speaking of that, you must now read a book that has earned the spot of my favorite non-fiction book of all time. It's called Unbroken and you will cry.)
I'm trying to figure out exactly what to say about the 10th anniversary of this day, and there really isn't anything I can say that hasn't already been said. Also, this blog is about my kids.
I just want you to know that we are remembering this weekend. Spending moments in prayer for the families and friends affected by the tragedy. And for those who have sacrificed their lives for us.
So go read this by Michelle Malkin instead.
Back to regular programming at some point. I have a busy week so it may be a while. But the girls are still cute.
