What I would say

I've often thought what I would say to H and O's birthmoms if I ever ran into them.
First, I would hug her. Then I would cup her face in my hands and with tears in my eyes, I would say, "You did the hardest thing a woman could ever do, and I want you to know that you did the right thing. We think about you every day, we pray for you everyday. We know you think about your daughter every day. Please know they are loved beyond measure by a mother and father, four grandparents, six great grandparents, and countless friends and relatives. Please be a peace with your decision. It was a good one."

Then when she would say, "How is she? What is she like? I would say to Miss A, "Hannah is a leader. She is strong and opinionated (read: bossy) and wants things her way. She even tries to tell the weather what to do (stop being windy!).
She likes to take her friends by the hand and lead them to activity after activity (because one activity doesn't hold Hannah's attention for too long). She likes to tell Olivia how to play, when to play and what to play.
She loves to snuggle. She wants to snuggle at bedtime, naptime and any time in between.
She loves music, tv, videos, movies and computer. She's my media kid and is better at the IPad than I am. She loves sugar in all forms.
She loves purses, baby dolls, shoes, changing baby doll diapers and playing in her little kitchen.
She loves to be read to, but she likes to be doing something else while we read to her. She's listening, just not sitting still.
She is very very observant. Her eagle eyes never miss the chocolate I try to sneak during the day.
She sleeps hard because she plays hard. She jumps and runs and is always climbing.
She sleeps with her dog and red blanket. She has a satin pillowcase and satin night scarf for her hair. She looks like a princess when she sleeps.
She is sassy and likes to argue. But I love that it's showing her independence and critical thinking skills. She is always bargaining.
Her eyes light up the room.
Potty training was a cinch. Moving to a big girl bed was a cinch.
She is beautiful.
She is emotional and very easy to discipline. Yet tests her limits every chance she gets.
She is a complex little creature but is very happy to have a pair of arms around her and some chocolate."

To Miss R, I would say, "Olivia is strong, she pushes over tables and chairs and carries around huge stock pots. She is sweet, she is so quick to share with Hannah and so quick to sign 'sorry' when she hits (which is a lot).
She is a strange combination of aggressive and sensitive. She will whack Hannah in the face with a bucket, yet one look from me and she has a tearful breakdown.
She doesn't talk much but can communicate anything she wants. She has a wry grin that completely melts me, and reminds me that she is ornery.
She sleeps hard because she plays hard. She sleeps with a big white flowered blanket that she nuzzles with her lips to soothe herself.
She runs alot. Through the house, often after Hannah with me trailing behind both. She loves being chased and thrown and tickled and bounced.
Her smile lights up the room.
She loves milk. She drinks several cups each meal and between meals.
She thrives on a schedule. She can be flexible, but only because she is on a tight schedule 99% of the time. She needs a gentle, patient hand every day because of her sensitivity.
She is a mama's girl through and through.
She is beautiful.
Every BSF and nursery worker and babysitter she has had, have all threatened to take her home with them.
She has an hourly foot stomping meltdown when she doesn't get her way and only needs about 30 seconds in timeout before she is contrite.
She is a complex little creature but is very happy to have mama holding her and some milk."

I wish I could let them know their girls are in the home the Lord designed for them. We aren't perfect (do I even need to say that?) but this family was God's plan. We are so grateful.

Merry Christmas!

So precious! Hopefully, someday, you will get to tell them all of this!

I love this post! I could totally picture them as you were describing them. What a precious list for them to have to read some day.
