Olivia had things figured out for a while. Life was easier when I fed her. She would not bring her cute little hand to her cute little mouth. She would just stare at me like Woman, do your job and feed me.
Then she moved on to feeding herself a select few items, like Cheerios or crackers.
Today she fed herself a peanut butter sandwhich and a pear. That doesn't sound like much to you, but it's awesome for me. It means I can sit the girls down for lunch and they can feed themselves and I'm not committed to sitting at the table with them.
Hannah's doing so well at potty training. She goes when she needs to. And has done "number 2" in the potty. She has only had a couple accidents, one was my fault not getting to her fast enough to help her with her pants. My cloth diaper stash is lasting ridiculously longer, my pail is not overflowing and I can't tell you how awesome it is to only change one diaper. A year of changing two was enough for me.
My girls are growing up. I suppose that's my job. To work myself out of a job and these are the first steps of independence.
Also, from the last post I only had one question. That means one of two things. A) No one is interested in my life (totally understandable) or B) I have been oversharing on the internet for so long no one has any questions (totally possible).
So I will answer the one question. It was about bad dreams/night terrors. Funny you should ask. We have been dealing with Hannah being scared every night for a few weeks. It started with major thunderstorms and Hannah being scared of the thunder. Combine that with the power of suggestion (Hannah, are you scared?) and bringing her into bed with us a few times and now Hannah is scared of who-knows-what multiple times a night. She wakes up crying, sometimes once, sometimes 3-4 times a night. I feel like I have a newborn. We have also still been having major thunderstorms so I know she can be scared of thunder but I also think she likes the attention/mommy and daddy's bed.
So if it's thunder, she gets to come in mommy and daddy's bed. If there's no thunder, she get a hug and a prayer and stays in her bed.
Without overthinking it, which is very easy to do, we are trying to communicate that although fears are real to her, they are unfounded and she is safe. However, if it's the thunder, we are here to protect her. Works for us for now.
Also, I gave Hannah a mani/pedi. She loved it.
Fffffff, blowing her nails dry. I really really love having girls.
We won a (pretty nice) bike at a raffle. Sweet!
Back to the nails. It started because I painted my toenails during naptime and Hannah noticed within milliseconds of waking up. "Nice toenails, mom! Paint mine?" How can I say no to that?
Everybody gets a treat when Hannah poops on the potty.
Little girls in jean skirts kill me.

When our boys were potty training, we all got to "celebrate" with whatever treat we were offering... and yes, I think it was harder for me to move on from the treats than it was for them. :) The girls are really growing up!! Man, I feel like Olivia was just born!
congrats on the potty training! i hope it goes that well for us soon. :)
Nice work, Hannah and Olivia! Since you have the potty training thing figured out, I let you train Max when he's old enough... Hope she continues to do well with it.
Wow - I am so happy for Hannah's excellent job at potty training!! Will you please have her forward the memo to Robbie? (I am now changing the diapers on 3 cute little bottoms, and that is just nuts.) Thanks for your comments on my milk situation - I tried for the first time this morning a soy chai, and was really disappointed! Everyone says they are so good. Maybe it was mental, but it probably doesn't matter b/c with Ellie her allergy was to the protein in cow's and soy milk, so I'll steer clear of soy anyways with Maddie instead of testing the waters. Might as well give up coffee altogether, right!?
Ok, so that we can continue conversations like this one, my email is armbruster@hotmail.com. :) Send me yours when you have a chance!
And I cannot comment without saying again that H and O are so stinking cute. And is it me or are they looking a lot older recently?
