Taper time

Every Sunday I take a nap.
Every single Sunday.
It's wonderful.

Most Sunday's I've had a long run (except in the dead of winter, and even then I manage to be tired enough to take a nap. I think it pleases the Lord (not sarcastic)).

Today I accomplished my last long run and that is an incredible feeling.
This morning I ran 20 miles in 2:47 and I felt awesome. I am hoping this feeling continues through the next three weeks of running and then the marathon. We all know I imploded last year on race day and I would really like to impove my time this year.

So after 20 miles today, when I got home at 9:30am, I was already looking forward to my afternoon nap.

1pm came around and unfortunately I was unable to sleep. My body was tired, but for some reason I couldn't get my brain to shut down. Tragic.
Matt was shocked. So I painted lamps.

Anyway, today Hannah told me one of her baby dolls names is Kaiya. I asked her where she heard that name and she said school. I said, "what school?" (She doesn't go to school, or even daycare, which I think is called school these days.) She said "real school, for big kids."

Also, Matt was at a Fantasy Football draft all afternoon. So during lunch, when Hannah asked where he was, I told her he was with his boyfriends (cracking myself up in the process).

When he got Hannah up from nap, the first thing Hannah said to him was, "Did you have fun with your boyfriends?"
Matt came into the kitchen and asked me, "Where did you tell Hannah I was?"
I just burst into laughter.

At dinner, we were eating corn on the cob. I saw Hannah staring at me and so I looked at her and she said, "Mom, you eat like a pig." Matt loved that and so he said, "What does mommy say?" and Hannah said, "Oink, oink." What?? Maybe I should be cleaner when I eat corn on the cob.
I won't lie, since my run this morning I had only eaten some homemade guacamole, a banana with peanut butter, and grapes. I was pretty hungry. I probably was even snorting or something.

Have a happy Sunday. We are going for a bike ride to the park. We can't let these beautiful days slip away!
