I don't do Black Friday. Simply because sleep is far far far more important to me than any deal. There isn't a single item at a single price on this planet that would cause me to get out of bed.
That's a big statement right there.
So point number 1: what item at what price is worth getting out of bed at 3am for? Please share. Then I will humbly admit I am wrong.
Normally in the afternoon, I do venture out to Target, or somewhere else that has coffee and I enjoy a drink and some wandering around. I usually don't buy anything, but I like watching the crazy, as long as I'm not taking part.
Having said that, I know there are people who are sold on Black Friday shopping. To which I want to say, "Good for you, don't wake me up!"
Point number 2: This letter to Target was awesome. As much as one might get a great deal doing the shopping, one might want to think of what Black Friday represents and how it is now encroaching on our Thanksgiving celebrations, especially the celebrations of the employees.
Point number 3: I am aware that the big draw is kids stuff. I've broken a lot of "nevers" in my parenting (a kid sleeping in my bed, anyone?), but I will boldly say right now, I will never get up early to buy my child the "must have" present because she can do without.
I'll venture a guess that this blog will be long gone by the time I break that never.
This is a dumb post.
Any thoughts on Black Friday? Anyone want to share any good deals they are hoping to score? Anyone want to change my mind about Black Friday?

I'm hosting Thanksgiving this year for my peeps (9 adults 4 babes). I've done a lot this past few weeks to get ready. Painted a room (shocker, I know), baked bread, made and froze some pumpkin pancakes, rearraged bedrooms, in addition to the normal household things that need done.
I bought the turkey today so I'm a real grown up.
I've been busy. I'm hoping to take some pictures of the girls soon because they've changed so much. Just kidding.

I totally agree. I love sleep far more than a good deal! I think it does make sense for big purchases like a laptop, etc. because you're saving 300 or 400 dollars. My husband doesn't mind getting up at 3, and sometimes he resells the stuff he gets (electronics) and makes a little money :)
You totally crack me up! :)
Sadly, I am one of the maniacs that will be out shopping with the rest of the deranged folks on Black Friday. But I do get good deals. My family works out a system. My sister does all the internet shopping for the family, my mom watches all the grandkids, and my dad and I split up the lists for the stores to run around like maniacs. At the end of the day (after a LONG nap!) we all meet up to deliver the purchases and exchange $$. Oh, and retrieve the kiddos too. LOL It's a family tradition, and we kind of even have fun. We've turned it into a challenge. We're a competitive bunch. :)
And honestly, there is rarely a "must have" toy on the list. We go with what they like, not the current fad.
Hey, I do black friday sometimes, but yes, I can't do it, but I will stay up till midnight and watch Twilight movies when they come out in the theater! LOL!
A lot of the stores this year are opening at midnight , atleast in Texas and I'll do that.
