I have pictures

But you'll have to wait for another post to see them. I babysat Max on Friday and got some really cute pictures. Then we went to Indy for the weekend where I left my camera in the car. Darn it.
This post, though, is just so I can remember this milestone.
Over the summer, while on vacation, all four of us slept in the same room. Matt on the top bunk, Hannah on the bottom bunk, me on the floor and Liv at the foot of the bunk beds in the pack n play. It worked out fine (surprisingly enough).
On Christmas Eve, we slept with the girls in our bed. Hannah does great, Liv, not so much. She giggled and grinned, poked my eyes and sat on my head all night, until I finally just put her back into her room.
(As a side note, as much as I like my bed to myself, we sometimes happen upon situations where we have to sleep together, so we do try to teach the girls to sleep with us, and actually sleep, and it's not a party. It's a skill that is important for our family.)
Every night, Olivia makes it clear she would like to sleep in Hannah's room. She makes a mad dash for her room and then squeals with rage when I catch her and put her in her room.
This weekend in Indy, we put Hannah and Olivia together in the same room for bedtime (not naptime) out of necessity and it worked!
So, all of that to say....we have been debating back and forth about when/if the girls should share a room, with me doubting that it would work with the girls at 21 months and 35 months (I'm not really still counting Hannah's months, Matt did the math for me the other day so I thought I would throw that out there).
As you can see, we've had some success and some not success.
After this weekend, though, we were ready to try sharing a room at bedtime. I don't think it will work at naptime, as Olivia will sleep for three hours and Hannah will only sleep for about 1.5 but will play for another 1.5 in her room and I wouldn't want her waking Olivia up.
Tonight we read our Bible story in Hannah's room. Matt layed down in Liv's bed with her and I tucked Hannah in. Olivia freaked out, throwing off the covers, whining and in general making a fuss.
So Matt got up and I turned off the light. Silence.
I walked over and gave Hannah a kiss and Olivia a kiss and we walked out.
They never made another peep.
Tonight was the first night in 21 months I have not rocked Olivia for a few minutes before bed.
Sniff sniff.
Like my mom said when I told her all this, she said "You'll just have to get another one."
Amen, mom. Amen.

I feel ya My Hannah wanted to sit next to me last night while we read... rather than on my lap! Can't say I liked it but I'll take what I can get!
