The vacation that wasn't

We've been planning for a while to take the girls to an indoor water park about 1.5 hours from here and spend the night. It was kind of pricey for one night but it fit into our vacation budget and we realized it would be the first time as a family of four that we have stayed together, just us, in a hotel room.
The only other time we stayed in a hotel was as a family of three when Hannah was four months old and I ran in a half marathon in Indy (and that was a Motel 6).
As you can see, we really don't travel much.
Of course, when we were going to have a new baby, I was all excited because I thought Nana and Papa could take the girls and Matt and I would stay at home and relax with the little one.
Overall, travelling is not my thing when there are kids involved. So I was super super excited to stay at home with a newborn and let someone else have fun at a (gross) indoor water park.
Well, that didn't happen so I geared up for the unknown.
We left this morning and to make a long story short, Hannah did not enjoy the water park, Olivia ate it up and could have stayed there all day.
It was mass chaos. It was gross. It was crowded.
Aaaaaand, we were pretty much done with the water by 2pm and were unable to check into our room until 4pm. Until 4pm rolled around and we were told it would be more like 6pm.
Just to be clear, we were going to pay an outrageous price to check in at 6pm, check out at 11am, and probably not go back to the water park because the girls were exhausted and done with it.
We got our refund at 4pm. Called a local pizza place, picked it up on the way home and ate it in the comfort of our (much lower priced) home.
So instead of pictures of the tons of fun we had at a water park and in our hotel room and the documentation of our first official family of four vacation night, you get a really dumb story. Congrats.

How disappointing! At least now you get to sleep in your own bed...

on the flip side you got to use the water park for free!
we had a similar issue at the great wolf lodge. makenna is really weird about noise and the echoing in the water park was a lot for her to handle. i thought it was genius and maddox had a good time. maybe in a few more years...
