Happy Mother's Day!!

To my mom: Thanks. I don't have enough words to express what an influence you have been to me. I really hope I can be like you when I grow up.

To Matt's mom: Thanks. I really really like your son. While his laundry skills may be lacking, his love skills are amazing. I can only be a good mom because he is a good husband.

To Hannah's mom: Thanks. She is a stitch and a drama queen. Her sense of humor is hysterical (one of her favorite words). I really love being Hannah's mommy.

To Olivia's mom: Thanks. She is a mama's girl and I can't stop kissing her cheeks. I really love being Olivia's mommy.

I love this face.

Trying to get a good picture.

Still trying.....

....and trying.....

....and trying....

....and trying.....

...... we'll take it!

Things that I am working on as a mom. I highly suggest you do the same.

1. For over a month now, my alarm has gone off at 4:45am. I am able to spend time reading my Bible and praying and in general having peace and quiet before the drama begins. I cannot underestimate the difference it has made in my life. I don't know if it's sleep cycle stuff or the Lord blessing me or what, but it is far easier for me to get up at 5am than it is at 6:30. It's so weird but awesome. The sense of peace and joy and the Holy Spirit's presence I have throughout the day is completely worth it.

2. Showing love to Matt in front of the girls. We've starting kissing more in front of them (gross, right? :) ). They love it. Their grins are priceless.

3. Reading The Excellent Wife. It's tough stuff and completely humbling. It goes against every part of my nature, especially my tendency towards feminism/independence/control. Read it and apply it.

Ha. The always-elusive mom/smiling kids photo. I'll bet every mom has that same series of pictures from yesterday... :)

Love your pics! I am with you on the waking up thing. I try to get up before the kids too. Its so hard, but I seem to have a better day because of it. Too bad we couldn't have 5:00am coffee together :)
