My favorite milestones

My first favorite milestone in parenting....sleeping through the night. My second favorite...walking. My third favorite....potty trained.

Notice they all have something in common? Indpendence.

Who cares about clapping, smiling, tracking with eyes, word count?? Not me! As a parent it's my job to put myself out of a job and teach my kids independence. Which is why I get all giddy when they can soothe themselves back to sleep, walk, and potty themselves.

Which brings me to this. It is with great joy, pride and astonishment that I tell you that Olivia is potty trained (for the most part)! At 25 months!! Pooping is always hit or miss for a while (although she did great with it yesterday, there was one minor accident).

Other than that minor accident (which was partly my fault because I let her go to the playground unsupervised yesterday afternoon), we have had zero accidents.

Poor Liv, I saw walking back from the playground so sheepishly, I knew exactly what had happened. Which also taught me that on day one of potty training, probably don't let your child go to the playground independently for 30 minutes.

Do you even understand the excitement that is coursing through me??? I just threw in my last load of cloth diapers. I didn't take the diaper bag to the zoo today (which was actually another parental mistake on day two of potty training, but there were no accidents!). Liv's clothes fit better, she runs better, my life is overall, much easier now.

I have been (cloth) diapering for 3.5 years and I am done!

(aside: for the time being.... I cannot, and I mean cannot, wait to get my hands and my cloth diapers on another little baby)

But until that day comes, WHOOOO to the HOOOOOO!

I'm excited. Very. Can you tell?

PS. I have had many questions about what we would do about our Disney World trip if we have another baby. My answer....I hope that's a problem we have to deal with:)
