We might as well tell you

We thought about keeping this a secret and it lasted an entire.....three days. Apparently I'm good at keeping secrets.
We ended up telling people (we kind of have to in certain situations i.e. my boss) so next, the blogworld gets to know. (Now this is getting a little dramatic, it's not that big of a deal.)

We have been matched with the birthmom and we are meeting with her Monday (Lord willing, even the meetings have sometimes fallen through).

So....here we are. In the awkward place of waiting. Waiting to meet the birthmom, waiting to find out if she likes us, waiting to hear what she decides, waiting for the birth, waiting to see if she signs the adoption paperwork, waiting to hear if birth father is going to file paternity. Sigh.

Please pray again. Pray for us for peace and patience, pray for birthmom for peace and patience, pray for baby for health, pray for the Lord's will to be done, pray for birth father (for what? I don't know), but most importantly, pray for us to come up with a THIRD GIRL'S NAME! (ok, that's not most important).

Yes, we requested boys at the three agencies we are listed with. Yes, we have been matched with a girl. I was right, for the record (if we are chosen to parent). I knew I would have three girls.

I cannot pray and I'm not asking you to pray that she places her baby. I cannot come before the Lord to ask Him to break up a mother and baby family. But what I can pray is that whatever is best for this baby is done (which, in this situation, is clearly placing her baby with us). Whatever needs to be done in birthmom's life and in baby's life to bring them (and us) closer to the Lord, is what we need to be praying.

There you have it. Oh, and we have approximately six weeks to wait. That's the longest amount of time we've had to (somewhat) prepare. Basically we are putting the crib together. Hopefully that doesn't take six weeks.

I'll be praying for you. You were on my mind last Sunday as I drove home from church, and I said very specific prayers about your family and the adoption you have been waiting for this time around. Hope this one is meant for your family, but even if not, God has the right one in mind. :)

I'll be praying for the Lord's perfect will in this and for Him to give you wisdom through each step.

We were matched in August, had the butterflies in our stomach as we met the birth mom, and heart-wrenching tears when she changed her mind at the hospital. Despite all of that, I am absolutely convinced that we were matched with this birth mom to do some serious Spiritual warfare for her in the 6 weeks we knew her. I may never know why, but I stand in faith that it was not a mistake.

Lifting you and your family up!

I saw this on the "we blog for adoption" fb group! I hope & pray your meeting goes well. Some advice a friend gave me was to refer to her in writing and in your mind as an "expectant mother" since she is not yet a birth mother and the baby is still her baby. That helped me put things into perspective. Helped me rejoice in this new life and the chance that she is giving this baby to live, but not completely attach myself to this baby yet. Hope that wasn't offensive.

I saw this on the "We blog for adoption" FB page too! Very exciting! We had about a 12 week match with our daughters birthmom and even though at the beginning it felt like an eternity, it really went by quickly. Praying for Gods will for all involved and His peace to see you through it all!
